Homemade Mango Applesauce

Homemade canned applesauce tastes better when combined with sweet mango.
Recipe type: Canning
Serves: 3 pints
  • 10 large apples
  • 1-2 large mangoes
  • ¼ cup honey (optional)
  1. Core the apples. Peel if desired.
  2. Peel mango and cut into bite sized pieces.
  3. Cut apples into bite sized pieces.
  4. Add apples and mango to a large pot or Dutch oven. Add just enough water to keep fruit from sticking.
  5. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until fruit is soft.
  6. Transfer cooked fruit to a blender, food processor, or food mill.
  7. Process to desired consistency.
  8. Return to Dutch oven. Taste pureed fruit.
  9. Add honey if desired. Stir to mix well.
  10. Ladle hot sauce into pint jars.
  11. Cover with two-piece lids and process in a water bath canner for 20 minutes.
  12. Remove from canner and let cool overnight.
